Example: you can't put it in 'The Sims 4/Mods/Script Mods', it has to be in 'The Sims 4/Mods'.ts4script: These are also script modifications. You have to unzip them and put the.ts4script file inside your main Mods folder or down just one level. I created an updated version! The way in which you install script mods is the same in the last video, but i wanted to use an updated mod that was compatible with the current game patch! The Sims 4 MOD: More traits for kids DOWNLOAD Hi ^^ Easy mod to unlock more traits for kids (default only available for teens+) WITHOUT MOD > WITH MOD Overriden.

The Sims 4 launched on September 2nd, and one of its most notable differences from The Sims 3 is the loss of the Create-A-Style function. With Create-A-Style, players could recolor almost any texture in the game to express their personal creativity with custom clothing and furnishings. The feature’s absence leaves The Sims 4 feeling somewhat limited with its smaller handful of color swatches for each item.

The good news is, like The Sims 3, The Sims 4 does include powerful modding support. Ambitious creators are already churning out new fashions, recolored hairstyles, gameplay mods, and more to enhance your game. Learn how to install custom content here, and follow the links below to the communities and artists who bring it to life!

Installing Mods and Content

To install custom content, you’ll need to find the Mods folder for your game. The default file path for this folder is:

My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods

This is where you’ll be dropping your custom content. Note that many content creators compress their creations as ZIP or RAR files to make sharing easier, so get one of these free file extractorsThe Top 3 File Compression & Extraction SoftwaresThe Top 3 File Compression & Extraction SoftwaresNeed to compress a large file? There's no shortage of file compression and archiving apps for Windows. But which file zipper is best for you? Here are our three top picks.Read More to unpack your content before you place it in the folder.

Once you’ve added any mods to The Sims 4, the game will show a mod browser by default when you launch it. This will let you know exactly what the game has recognized and implemented at launch, so you can know that your files are in the right place.

When you dive into the world of custom content, be aware that you’ll be handling items that haven’t been vetted by the game’s creators. This means you’ll occasionally run across misidentified, offensive, or buggy material in your hunt. Take these recolors of the buzzed up hairstyle that I downloaded. They look fine on a static Sim’s face, but once the characters start making expressions, the hair separates from itself in a visual glitch. If I want corrected hairstyles, I’ll have to keep an eye on the creator’s blog to see if she publishes an update, and manually replace the files if she does. Managing custom content requires extra effort, but if you feel stifled by the game’s existing options, it can be worth the trouble.

Where To Find Cool Stuff

So now that you know how to add custom content, where can you find it? Here are a few places you can start exploring.

Tumblr

Many creators share their work without ever posting to one of the popular custom content hubs. Their Tumblrs, or Simblrs as they’re fond of calling them, provide links to the file sharing sites from which you can nab their finished products. If you just want to browse the vast variety available to you, search for one of the following terms: Sims 4 Custom Content, S4CC, or Sims 4 Mods. Any of these will pull up a healthy list of options. That’s where I found NYAMI SIMS’ Cat Ears. They’re perfect for your more childish or goofy Sims.

While following individual creators can help you find cool things, you may also want to follow a few aggregators too. Take this Tumblr by Emily CC Finds. It’s almost like a Pinterest board, with lots of pictures of content spread across several columns to make your browsing easy and fun.

The Simsperience

The Simsperience is a new blog that launched alongside The Sims 4’s Create-A-Sim demo earlier this year. It only showcases the custom content of one particular creator, but it’s already packed with gorgeous recolors of existing clothing items. This classy pack of 10 recolored scoop neck tees was the first item to catch my eye, and it piqued my interest in checking out more of the blog’s quality content.

    Hello
Is it just the one mod not working or all script mods? If it is just the one mod, there may be an issue because it was only released today. This thread has information about the mod.
    http://sims4studio.com/post/85791
Perhaps you could be in touch with the creator of the mod.

  • Hi! It is all mods, I also tried the go to school mod and the fashion mod, and although in the fashion mod I could join the career, I could not research fashion
  • I am sorry that you are having these issues.
Try moving your mods folder to the desktop. Launch the game, and a new mods folder will be generated. Exit the game. Then put your mods/cc from the old mods folder into the newly generated mods folder and test to see if the issues remain.
Make sure that there is only one resource.cfg file in the folder

  • Thank you for helping, I did as you said and it is still not working : (
  • Try starting a fresh new save game with a different household, and see if the mod issues occur in that new save game also.

  • I'm having a problem with my script mods. When I first installed mods, I had cc installed. And my script mods never showed up, but non script mods did. I fixed this problem yesterday by restarting my Sims 4 folder, and deleting it. And it worked. Until I put my CC back into my game. So I took all my CC out, and it didn't work. So I restarted my Sims 4 folder AGAIN, and it worked. And so, me being lazy. I didn't feel like doing the 50/50 technique and just downloaded new CC. But I'm having the SAME problem with my new CC so that's why I don't think it's my cc that's conflicting with it. Could you please help, I have script mods enabled and mods and cc enabled. And I've searched all of Google for a fix and none seem to work. And It doesn't seem like anyone's having the same problem I am.
  • I don't see anyone with the same problem as me and I can't find a solution online. None of the custom content or script mods show up in the game. When I opened my sims 4 game a few days ago, it said mods disabled to re-enable them, yada yada yada.. I select 'other' and then see by 'script mods enabled.' option, it's checked but the box is kinda grayed out and when I hover over it, it says 'script mods have been disabled'. I updated my game, removed some custom content, repaired my game but, none of these 'solutions' worked. Can anyone help me? One extra bit of information is that I have maxed out my onedrive capacity, is this a problem? Let me know. Please and thank you.

    Hello
One Drive could be causing this issue, Try seeing if there is a mods folder in One Drive . The game may be using that mods folder instead of the correct one in Documents -Electronic Arts -Sims 4- mods folder. One Drive can cause issues, with mods and saves.
It would be best to unsync One Drive and Sims 4.

But if you still want to use One Drive and not turn it off, you would need to place mods /cc in the mods folder in One Drive.

  • I have tried doing that, and the problem still happened. I have to choose between script mods or cc, because If I use cc and script mods my script mods won't work.

    Hello @aafason
When you hover the mouse over the script mod setting box , does it still say “ disabled” .?

    Hello
It sounds like the game was using a sims 4 folder that was in One Drive instead of the correct one in Documents -Electronic Arts.
Try logging into One Drive on the website and see if a sims 4 folder is in your account. If it is, make a copy of it and place this copy somewhere on your computer or an external drive.
Then, move your whole Documents -Electronic Arts - sims 4 folder to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game. Then add the ‘ options.ini' or 'options' file and the 'saves' , 'screenshots' 'tray' 'custom music ' folders from the sims 4 folder that was on One Drive, to the new Documents -Electronic Arts - sims 4 folder generated, replacing the new folders with the old folders of the same name. Then add your mods that are in the sims 4 -mods folder on your desktop, to the new mods folder.
Then test to see if your saves, library items, and cc are there.

    Hello
I am sorry. I posted your name instead of the other simmer who had the disabled mods message.
Try moving the Documents -Electronic Arts- Sims 4- options or options.ini file to the desktop.
Start the game, go to game options and enable cc/mods and script mods. Exit the game. Reload the game, and see if you can then use both cc and script mods.

  • Nope. Unfortunately it didn't work. Thank you for the help by the way.

I am not sure if this will help, but try placing some of the cc package files directly into the mods folder without being in sub folders and see if they appear then.

  • Didn't work either.

There seems to be a conflict with the script mods and the cc, and it sounds like it may be a script mod that is the issue. You may need to just place the cc into the mods folder, without any script mods there, and see if they work. If they do work, then add each individual script mod one at a time and test the game. Put one script mod item in, test the game , take it out. Then test another one, to find the cause of the issue.
