So, I wanted to download ElvUI, and I'm not entirely sure how to do this, since I've been used to Curse doing all the work for me.
I can't download the client that Tukui offers because I'm on a Mac.
So I downloaded the file and unzipped it, and I get a folder called elvui-5.99, inside which there are two folders: ElvUI and ElvUI_Config.
I dragged the elvui-5.99 inside the AddOns folder in my WoW Interface, but when I open the game, the add-on doesn't appear in the list of add-ons. What am I doing wrong?

You've dragged the wrong folder in to your AddOns folder.
I'm betting all you want to do is drag ElvUI and ElvUI_Config in to your AddOns folder.

Okay, new problem.
I did what you said, and it worked perfectly.
But then I opened my Curse Client and I saw that the ElvUI appeared there, and it said that it was out of date, so I updated it and now it doesn't work.
Do I have to re-install the whole ElvUI?

ElvUI is not being posted on curse anymore so I am not sure why you're using curse client to update it. You need to get latest versions of ElvUI from their own website and install it manually, as Unkle outlined.

im having the same problem. i know im doing everything right evlui and evlui_config are in my addons folder, but i still launch the game and nothing happens.

Do they show up in the character selection screen AddOn menu? If not, you didn't installed them properly.

The way it needs to be is this:
World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons
Inside there you should have the ElvUI and ElvUI_Config files
Then launch your game and go to your character selection screen. In the bottom left hand corner hit addons. Make sure that ElvUI is listed there and checked. If it says it is out of date, check for an update. If no update to the addon is available then go back to that addon list and check the box that says 'Load out of Date addons'.

The ElvUI guys stopped uploading it to Curse several years ago. They host it on their own website now, presumably to make it easier to get donations and ad revenue.

Also hosting on those web sites can sometimes be problematic, approval processes etc..also the TukUI web site is much more dynamic, Tuk and Elv have both been hacked and whole new UIs have been created for them and their own site hosting them is much more reasonable.

I use curse for all my normal addons and have WoWMatrix take care of ONLY elvUI. It is a tiny bit easier than having to go to their website, download and extract. Find the folder. All that. I don't really enjoy WoWMatrix, but it's better than having to go through the extracting process every time elvUI is updated. lol

You can use the Tukui Client to update your ElvUI. Sorry, but it's a Window's only application.

With WoWMatrix using out-of-date addons, don't you have a problem with your ElvUI being up-to-date?

Check your AddOns folder to see if it is there. If it is not, install Elv UI again.

You can, also, use the TukUI client to install ElvUI. It's on the bottom of that page. You have to be a member, I believe, to install the Client though. Becoming a member is FREE!!! Sorry, but the Client is currently a Window's only application. The site address:

Have they shut down?
The Tukui interface that does the Elvui updates shows message site not found. I goto Tukui.org and the website is down as well..

ETA on restore is 24 hours-ish.

Not remotely justifying this action, but it could simply be someone took offense to Blazeflack's condescension and snarkiness.
Personally, I find the proper response to that to be returning it in kind, but there are those out there not as gifted in wise<insert name for very small equine used as a beast of burden>ery but who do have 'skilz'.
There's a reason for everything. I doubt we'll ever know what prompted this one. At a minimum, I'd bet Tuk puts a better set of security on the new site.

They've got buttons for both Tukui and ElvUI right there.
I just walked someone through an update and it solved a crap ton of problems for them.

I love that I came back from vacation in the land of not-even-cell-service-unless-you-drive-for-an-hour to this.. I facepalmed irl.
www.tukui.org took me to my computer's saved/bookmarked version that gives the error message. Anyone encountering the same can simply add /countdown after the .org to get to the right place!

i use bugsack i was going to update i just was thinking so i figgure hey i go update but i never noticed error but thats bugsack hides it the interface seems fine with me if you use that addon till update comes on out

as of today they are rebuilding everything. personally i think they should go on twitch..

As most of you know already, someone was able to get access to the hosting account of our server. This allowed the person to delete everything on the server, including the backups that were connected to this hosting account. Unfortunately this means we have no way of restoring the website and connected services to their original state.
This is obviously a terrible loss for the Tukui community as a whole, and for each individual user who relied on Tukui.
At this point we saw only three options. We could rebuild everything from scratch, while salvaging as much as we could from Web Archives. Another option was to switch to Curse hosting and abandon our forum. The final option was to abandon Tukui and ElvUI altogether.
I hope everyone will be happy to know that we went with option #1. Tukz will be working to build a new and better home for us. While it is terribly annoying that this incident happened, we believe that the final outcome will make for a better experience for the entire Tukui community, as soon as we get everything up and running.
This will obviously not happen overnight, as we all have lives that go on outside our daily routines in the Tukui community. We will do our best to get everything up and running as fast as possible, and ask for your patience and understanding while we work through any issues that may arise.
